A story begun in the twelfth century
The Medieval village of Porrona, built during the XII century B.C., belonged for five centuries to two noble families from Siena, the Tolomei and the Piccolomini until 1894 when it became property of Pietro Emilio Targes de Rochefort, a member of the French aristocracy. Today Porrona is a charming village where still live few local people. The abandoned building part of the village are now part of the private property and owners who decided to open here a 5* boutique hotel.
The restoration work of Castel Porrona has been achieved with full respect to its original architectural details, preserving precious components throughout the complex and the result beautifully highlights the medieval spirit of the building, retaining its historic integrity and authenticity.
The magnificent Castle, symbol of Porrona, is today part of the hotel and rises in the middle of the square, in a panoramic location over the Tuscan hills.
The hotel is located within a short drive from relevant historic, cultural and touristic attractions such as Siena, Firenze, Montalcino, the hot springs of Saturnia, Maremma’s National Park and the glamorous coast of Punta Ala.
Castel Porrona is the ideal destination for a sea and countryside escape.
I travel hundreds of thousands of miles a year and this is one of the nicest places I’ve ever stayed. The restored castle is immaculate with all the amenities, but lots of 12th century character. Super nice staff. Gorgeous surroundings. This is a place to get away, not to have a bustling tourist villageS
My husband and I decided to have a couple of nights at this beautiful accomodation- turned out to be a lovely break on our Italy trip. We had a lunch and two dinners and the food was perfect! The service matched the perfection of the food. We both thought the food at the restaurant was the highlight of our trip so far.
The room was spacious with a nice layout. Great view over the grounds in the castle.
Loved it all!
Castel Porrona made our ‘honeymoon’ perfect from start to finish. All the wonderful staff couldn’t do enough for us, the room was beautiful, the food incredible, the spa, pool and the whole ‘village’ was as beautiful as the Tuscany countryside that surrounded it. The only negative was 4 nights wasn’t enough.. We cant wait to visit again
Fantastic hotel, fully renovated, lovely setting. Rooms are modern with views and with wonderful amenities. Very nice spa. Extremely attentive management, outstanding service. Excellent restaurant. Completely wonderful experience.
